Taneja Center for Surgery Wins Construction Management Association of America Project Achievement Award

The Construction Management Association of America has recognized 20 projects for outstanding achievements in construction management. Among this year’s Project Achievement Award winners is the Taneja Center for Surgery at AdventHealth Tampa. Award winners serve as examples for CMAA to promote professionalism and excellence in the management of the construction process.

Located in Florida, the project is being honored in the award category of Healthcare: Construction value greater than $50 Million. The project team included Jacobs, HuntonBrady and Robins & Morton.

With a $256-million budget, the project included a new 255,000-square-foot, six-level addition to an existing campus, structured to accept three future levels. Key planning indicators were developed to right size the number of rooms for each service line to drive the master planning process. The project team engaged a simulation consultant to study the travel times for surgical cases to determine risks to patients, clinical checkpoints and needs, while using a vertical transportation system for pre-/post-op and surgery. Evaluations provided elevator sizing for emergency supplies and support services along the route for patient transportation.
