Dewberry’s Alex Harwell Appointed as Associate Board Member for NCHEA

Dewberry Associate Alex Harwell has been appointed to the position of associate board member for the North Carolina Healthcare Engineers Association’s 2018-19 term.

NCHEA is a state organization of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering of the American Hospital Association. Members include healthcare facility managers, engineers, architects, designers, contractors and infection control specialists. In his role as associate board member, Harwell acts as a liaison between the board and associate members, serves on committees as appointed by the NCHEA board or president and is granted voting rights.

Harwell has been with Dewberry for more than five years and has nearly two decades of experience in mechanical engineering, including utility and facility systems design, operations, troubleshooting and maintenance for healthcare and other facilities. Located in the Raleigh, North Carolina, office, he works as a client and project manager overseeing numerous healthcare-related projects across North Carolina and southern Virginia. Early in his career, Harwell spent 10 years as an enlisted nuclear machinist’s mate in the U.S. Navy.

Harwell holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology from Old Dominion University and is a member of ASHE.
