Open House Showcases Design, Technology of New Roane Medical Center

Roane main entranceHARRIMAN, Tenn. — Before the doors opened, officials of Roane Medical Center hosted on Feb. 10 a preview celebration of its new medical center campus. The 64-acre medical center campus includes a 145,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art hospital and a 26,000-square-foot professional office building. The project was designed by The Lewis Group and built by Rentenbach Constructors, Inc.

“It is hard to believe we started this project more than two years ago, and the time is finally here to show off our new facility,” said Gaye Jolly, president and chief administrative officer of Roane Medical Center. “We’ve been counting down the days, and we’re less than one month until our official opening date. We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to our community so they can experience this historical moment in Roane Medical Center’s history and the history of the communities of Roane County.”

Key features of the new hospital include all private, modern patient rooms with large natural light windows, 15 emergency suites, technologically advanced surgery suites and enlarged and modern nursing units. Expanded space for future campus development over time to meet evolving patient care needs is also built into the project design. Patient drop-off and pick-up areas will be available, as well as free parking in more than 500 parking spaces. Patients and visitors can enjoy freshly prepared meals in the new Three Rivers Café.

The medical center campus is wired for new computer systems, information technologies and hardware for transition to electronic medical records.

Adjacent to the hospital is a new professional office building, home to medical professionals including Thompson Oncology Group, Roane Medical Patricia Neal Outpatient Center and Roane Medical Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. Thompson Oncology Group will be staffed with board-certified oncology physicians, who have access to multidisciplinary cancer care through Thompson Cancer Survival Center.

Roane Patricia Neal Outpatient Therapy Center features an in-ground therapy pool complete with a built-in treadmill, and Roane Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation offers a new, state-of-the-art telemetry monitoring system.

Roane Medical Center first received approval in April 2011 from the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency to build the new medical center.
