San Antonio Specialty Hospital to Expand

STSSHANTONIO, Texas – A major expansion will bring increased privacy and added convenience to South Texas Spine & Surgical Hospital in San Antonio, its owner, Dallas-based MedProperties Capital Partners LP announced. The hospital is operated by Chicago based National Surgical Hospitals.

“This expansion and update to the facility’s clinical components will increase patient convenience, privacy, safety and comfort, making an already highly successful specialty hospital even better,” says MedProperties Holdings LLC Managing Principal Michael Horowitz.

Expansion plans at the 30-bed, one-story, 45,733-square-foot facility call for 8,690 square feet of additional space. That will include nine new private patient rooms at the west end of the existing nursing wing, a storage room and a suite consisting of two critical care rooms and two observation rooms on the south side of the nursing wing. In the current patient wing, one of the existing patient rooms will be renovated to an on-call and dictation room, and the existing nurses’ station will be expanded. Upon completion, the licensed bed count will remain the same and 100 percent of the facility’s rooms will be private.

In addition to the patient wing expansion, new construction will occur adjacent to the post-acute care unit and dietary suites. A new general storage room and expanded nurses’ station will be added to the existing post-acute care suite, and a new dry storage room and walk-in refrigerator/freezer will be added to the dietary suite. The existing dry storage will be renovated to a new dietary office.
