VA Community Clinic Contract Will Expand Services to Arizona Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Veterans Affairs has selected the developer to build a new healthcare clinic in Gilbert, Ariz.

The lease contract was awarded to McShane Development Company, LLC, Rosemont, Ill. The project will create 423 construction jobs, with an opening set for the spring of 2014. Once the new facility is accepted, VA will pay an annual rent of $1.95 million and will lease the facility from the developer for a 20-year term.

Construction of the two-story building, covering 60,000 square feet of space, will add specialty care services including audiology, radiology and dental to the existing services. This project will also improve access to primary care services, and includes nearly 500 additional parking spaces. The new facility will replace the existing 30,000-square-foot clinic on the former Williams Air Force Base/Arizona State University East Campus.

The new clinic will house outpatient services for more than 19,000 Veterans annually in Maricopa County, as well as parts of Pinal and Gila County. The facility is located near Mercy Gilbert Hospital and will be overseen by the Phoenix VA Health Care System, which is a part of Veterans Integrated Service Network 18.

“Our Veterans have earned the right to first-class medical care through their service to the Nation,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki. “This facility will help fulfill our commitment to them.”
