HDR Selected to Design Outpatient Care Facility for Advocate Christ Medical Center

ACMC_FINALAdvocate Christ Medical Center selected HDR Architecture to design a new $202 million outpatient care and research pavilion on the Oak Lawn, Ill., campus. HDR will provide professional design services from programming and planning to design through construction documents and project close-out.

“We are excited about the opportunity to work with Advocate Christ Medical Center on their newest project,” said Mike Doiel, AIA, LEED AP, project principal.

“Advocate Christ is a long-standing client and we understand and support their core values of safety, patient focus, efficiency, cost effectiveness and sustainability. They strive toward Lean process improvement and are committed to providing excellent healthcare to patients in an environment in which collaboration is improved, redundancies and inefficiencies are minimized and associated costs reduced. It is our goal to ensure these principles are incorporated within the design and construction of this advanced ambulatory care pavilion.”

The new nine-story ambulatory facility will help streamline outpatient services across the hospital. It will consolidate most of the institutes on the campus including the Pediatric Institute, Cancer Institute, Cardiac Institute, Bone & Joint Institute and Neuroscience Institute. Ambulatory D&T services will include an ASC, Diagnostic Imaging and Endoscopy. The new outpatient pavilion will be placed on the existing physicians’ parking lot on the northwest corner of Kilborne and 95th Streets and be linked to the existing hospital buildings with at least two corridor connections to provide discrete flows for staff/materials and patient/public circulation.

A six-level parking tower will be built on the site of the former Paragon Restaurant. It will lead directly to the new addition and include up to 2,000 parking spaces. The building is expected to be completed by 2014.
