Turner Selected by The University of Kansas Hospital to Manage Construction
New York, N.Y. — Turner Construction Company, the nation’s largest builder of healthcare facilities, has been selected by The University of Kansas Hospital to manage construction of a $55 medical office building in Kansas City, Kan. The project will seek LEED Certification from the United States Green Building Council upon completion in 2011.
The medical center will be located south of The University of Kansas Hospital and will house 18 clinical departments, including exam, clinic, diagnostic and treatment areas, which are currently scattered throughout the campus.
Green features of the facility include water efficient landscaping, access to public transportation, energy performance optimization, thermal comfort controls and the use of recycled and locally manufactured materials.
“Turner is proud to serve as the construction manager for this important facility to benefit the patients and surround communities served by The University of Kansas Hospital,” said Dewey Newton, Vice President and General Manager of Turner’s Kansas City office.
