Tahoe Pacific Hospitals Completing State-of-the Art Renovation at St. Mary’s

Award-winning hospital improves facility

RENO, Nev. — This month, Tahoe Pacific Hospitals are completing extensive renovations and redesign of their facilities at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, including a move from the fifth floor to the third floor.

“We are committed to providing the highest quality of care for medically complex patients in Reno who are recovering from catastrophic injury or illness,” said Colin O’Sullivan, chief executive officer for Tahoe Pacific Hospitals. “The improvements we are completing at our St. Mary’s facility have been made with patients, families, caregivers and physicians in mind, and will significantly enhance the patient experience at Tahoe Pacific. We look forward to bringing ongoing improvements in long term acute care services to our community.”

Tahoe Pacific Hospitals have two locations in the Reno area: a 39-bed facility on the campus of Renown Medical Center at South Meadows and a 21-bed facility on the campus of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Among other improvements, all patient rooms in the newly renovated St. Mary’s location will  provide increased space and privacy for families visiting loved ones.

Both hospitals are designed and staffed specifically to serve the needs of medically complex patients who require extended hospitalization. Many of our patients are transferred to LifeCare after a stay in an intensive care unit and have often experienced multiple system failures and slow response to traditional medical treatments. These patients require extended acute care management with intensive therapies and 24-hour medical attention.

Tahoe Pacific offers a wide range of medical and therapeutic services including ventilator weaning, acute and chronic dialysis, 24-hour registered nursing and respiratory care, and the latest technology in comprehensive wound care. Patients and their care teams have access to on site diagnostic services including CT scanner, bedside radiology, dialysis, on site lab services and pharmacy, as well as in-house physical, occupational and speech therapy, and much more.

Tahoe Pacific Hospitals have recently earned Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) from the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). This places the hospitals in an elite set of only 15 percent of hospitals in the United States that have received this award.  Additionally, both hospitals are accredited by The Joint Commission and are Medicare certified.
