HGA has been selected to design the new Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The facility will offer imaging technology and seamless care for pediatric cardiac patients. In collaboration with the UPMC construction team, HGA developed the programming, planning and design of the three-story, 50,000-square-foot facility, which will be built on top of the existing parking garage on the UPMC Children’s Lawrenceville campus. Staff at M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, Minnesota have faced a 5% rise in inpatient visits and a 12% increase in ED visits since 2022. With limited space, and a commitment to improve patient care while visits are only expected to grow, St. John’s staff improved patient flow by expanding the emergency department, reorganizing existing services and – now – opening a new short-stay and observation unit.
