The following are the Top 10 reasons to attend:

1. See, touch and meet 100+ exhibitors

The Expo Hall features the latest furnishings, wall coverings, lighting, technology, flooring and modular and healthcare solutions from returning exhibitors, as well as 25+ newcomers. Many manufacturers will debut products and solutions for the first time at HFSE.

2. Keynotes take the stage

Each year, HFSE features three compelling keynotes and this year’s speakers include Ryan Straschnitzki, former Humboldt Bronco, current Team Alberta para-ice hockey member and founder of the Straz Strong Foundation and Susan Black, principal and director, Perkins Eastman Black Architects Inc. The third keynote will be announced shortly at https://hcarefacilities.com.

3. Robust conference

The symposium features three days of 60+ educational and insightful sessions and case-studies meant to inspire and improve healthcare facilities. The sessions will span multiple topics including pediatrics, behavioral health and community health.

4. Emerging leaders welcome

The new Symposium Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program gives recognition to those individuals with less than 10 years (non-consecutive) of experience in healthcare design and construction, including research and/or education.

5. And the winners are…

The Symposium Distinction Awards recognize design teams, projects and individuals who have made a profound contribution to the industry. The program accepts submissions of all types and sizes of patient care-related facilities. In addition, it recognizes the industry’s best and most innovative new products. Winners will be announced Wednesday, Sept. 20 during a celebratory luncheon.

6. Get social

Mix and mingle with new and old friends at daily events including the Networking Breakfast opening morning to kick off the 2023 Symposium (7-8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19). The Grand Opening of Exhibit Floor and Symposium Party kicks off at 4 p.m. and features lite bites and cocktails. 7. Design team gallery

The HFSE Design Team Gallery is an exclusive area for AEC firms to showcase their best healthcare project and expertise to inspire attendees.

8. Design solutions theaters

The Expo Hall is home to two Design Solutions Theaters where the design team gallery projects come to life with intimate 15-minute mini-presentations conducted by leading healthcare architecture firms.

9. Charlotte facility tours

The 2023 event will bring back facility tours in the Charlotte area, a tradition returning after its hiatus since COVID. Both tours will take place 1-5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18. This year’s tours include:

  • Atrium Health Union West Campus, a greenfield, 37-acre full-service hospital campus in Stallings, North Carolina.
  • Novant Health’s Ballantyne Medical Center, a 185,000-square-foot hospital and 52,000-square-foot medical office building in the upscale Ballantyne area in Charlotte.

10. Enter to win and give back

HFSE has a long history of selecting charitable organizations each year, holding a raffle onsite and donating the proceeds to that charitable organization. This year’s beneficiary, Straz Strong Foundation, provides those with physical and mental disabilities an improvement of quality of life. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at HFSE.
