Following the opening of a new, $85-million patient tower, HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Hudson has embarked on several clinical enhancements incorporating advanced medical technologies designed to create the best-possible care experience.
The 392-bed, full-service acute care hospital has opened a new, hybrid operating room combining a traditional operating room with an image-guided interventional suite. Larger than a typical operating room, the hybrid operating room enables medical teams to perform minimally-invasive cardiovascular and vascular procedures such as valve replacement, aneurysm repair and treatments for congenital heart and coronary artery disease.
While the space is primarily used for cardiovascular and vascular procedures, it also can be used for other surgical purposes. The hospital also houses 10 traditional operating rooms and two open-heart surgery rooms.
The hospital has completed the transition to an advanced MRI software which captures significantly higher-quality images in shorter timeframes, anywhere from 3-40 minutes, depending on the type of scan.
The hospital also is updating two of its catheterization labs with new equipment for cardiovascular tests and procedures.
The hospital is a verified level 2 trauma center for its 24-hour immediate coverage by general surgeons, as well as coverage in orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology and critical care.
The full-service acute care hospital is also a comprehensive stroke center and has earned several Healthgrades accolades including the Patient Safety Excellence Award in 2022 and 2023, America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery for five consecutive years, America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery for five consecutive years, America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Vascular Surgery, a Surgical Care Excellence Award for two consecutive years, and a Gastrointestinal Surgery Excellence Award.
