Westover Hills Baptist Medical Campus Breaks Ground
Westover Hills Baptist Medical Campus broke ground Oct. 11, which will serve the Westover Hills area, as well as people living in far west San Antonio and neighboring counties in Texas. The campus sits on 72 acres of land. The multi-phased project includes medical office buildings, an ambulatory surgical center and an acute care hospital, with the potential for additional medical and retail entities in future development phases. Investment in the hospital facility totals $230 million.
The initial phase of development includes construction of the first of two planned medical office buildings, which will bring increased access to primary and specialty care. The MOBs will house physician offices, outpatient imaging and other ancillary medical services, as well as an ambulatory surgical center for elective procedures.
Construction of the full-service, acute-care hospital will follow MOB construction. The five story, 104-bed facility will encompass approximately 255,000 square feet. Shell space for future growth will accommodate additional beds. A garden-level floor will incorporate a landscaped area with hardscape and water feature for outdoor dining activities. The hospital will feature emergency, imaging, lab, obstetric, surgical and inpatient services.
The hospital and medical office buildings are designed by ESa. Robins & Morton is managing construction of the medical campus.
The first medical office building is expected to open in late 2023, with the hospital scheduled to open the following year.
