E4H Environments for Health Architecture celebrated the groundbreaking of a pharmacy at the Lynn Community Health Center in Lynn, Massachusetts. The project will provide affordable retail pharmacy services to a diverse, multilingual patient population.
E4H worked closely with community stakeholders throughout the design process to prioritize needs and improve patient access. The new pharmacy is federally funded and will provide specialized packaging that sorts medications for daily use and delivery to housebound patients.
The Lynn Community Health Center is a nonprofit, multicultural, community health center. LCHC uses an innovative, integrated patient-centered medical home model of care, which is designed to respect each patient’s unique needs. Working with design team members Lee Kennedy, Stantec, AKF and Community Care Cooperative, E4H participated in a multiday Lean 3P event, a planning approach focused on eliminating waste in the design process to optimize workflow and space planning.
Located just off the main lobby on the first floor of the existing health center, this project includes a new retail pharmacy, consultation and vaccine clinic space and multipurpose community rooms. The retail pharmacy will provide services to support employees, patients and visitors. Prominently situated in the pharmacy waiting area will be a dedicated natural display wall, showcasing products familiar to the diverse patient population that promote wellness and health. The project is estimated for completion in January 2023.
