Illinois MOB Repurposed into 90,000-SF Freestanding Behavioral Health Facility
The expansion of Lake Behavioral Hospital, a freestanding inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction treatment facility, located in Waukegan, Illinois, is complete.
Reed Construction was selected in 2019 by US HealthVest to complete this project, which included re-purposing an existing four-story medical office building and constructing a new 60,000-square-foot addition. Now spanning 90,000 square feet, the hospital includes a new outpatient treatment space, full kitchen and recreational areas.
In addition, the facility features the latest design methods including high-abuse board drywall, anti-ligature fixtures and top-of-line security measures. Reed utilized BIM coordination and a Lean construction approach to meet an aggressive 11-month schedule.
Architectural services were provided by Legat Architects.
