Tampa’s $256M Taneja Center for Innovative Surgery Tower Tops Out
The structural completion of Florida’s AdventHealth Tampa Taneja Center for Innovative Survey’s new six-story, surgical and patient tower project, was recently celebrated.
As the country continues to navigate COVID-19 and the necessary social distancing measures, the project team wanted to recognize this monumental step in the $256-million project’s progress. The topping out ceremony was live streamed to AdventHealth employees and project partners to ensure proper social distancing.
As the crane operator raised the structure’s final beam, virtual attendees could see the many signatures of the hospital staff and project team members inscribed on its surface, symbolizing each individual’s support and contributions to the project. To date, the project team has worked 429,000 total work hours and has poured 18,000 cubic yards of concrete.
Once complete, the Taneja Center for Innovative Surgery addition will total 314,000 square feet, tying into the main hospital. It will feature 100 private rooms; a 24-bed critical care unit; a 24-room surgical suite and a new main entrance to the hospital with a two-story atrium, lobby, patient registration area and other support spaces. The project team includes general contractor Robins & Morton, architect HuntonBrady Architects, MEP engineer TLC Solutions and hospital owner’s representative Jacobs Program Management.
The patient tower is scheduled to complete in Fall 2021.
