New, Enhanced Medical Facilities Embrace Technology + Collaboration to Create Lasting Community Impact

California residents can celebrate increased access to quality healthcare with the addition of six new medical facilities constructed in the last year by The Neenan Company. The projects are a result of the firm’s partnerships with Community Health Centers of the Central Coast and United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley.

The firm implemented its collaborative Design-Build approach, with elements in each facility designed to support technological advances, enhance specialty services and supply future-proof solutions that will have a long-term impact. These locations include CHC facilities in Templeton, Paso Robles and Lompoc; and UHC facilities in Parlier and Reedley, as well as its new administration building in Fresno,

CHC’s 26,600-square-foot clinic in Templeton was completed in summer 2019. The clinic replaced CHC’s former facility in Templeton, providing an additional 10,700 square feet to increase capacity. The new clinic enabled the healthcare organization to co-locate its services for family and internal medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, behavioral health, pharmacy, laboratory and chiropractic care, which streamlined the care experience for patients.

The firm also expanded the capacity of CHC’s clinic in Paso Robles, redeveloping a 21,290-square-foot portion of an existing retail facility to serve the growing community. The clinic was completed this past year, with 34 exam rooms to offer primary care services, radiology and a pharmacy onsite. The updated design provides an exceptional patient experience and comfortable workspaces for care providers.

Additionally, the firm was contracted to build the new 27,556-square-foot facility in Lompoc, designed to complement the area’s Spanish mission style. The expanded CHC Lompoc clinic will relocate from its current facility to better implement a comprehensive approach to patient care, integrating a range of healthcare services. When completed, all providers will operate out of one facility and communicate across specialties to support 360 degree care. Services include dental, X-ray and lab, as well as retail for medication. The project is anticipated to be completed in the first half of 2020.

Ground was broken in 2019 for a new facility in Reedley, to replace an older and smaller building that had served the area previously. Anticipated to open in early 2020, UHC Reedley will add 15 dental operatories and 22 exam rooms for medical services. Also housed in the building’s 20,000 square feet are six optometry exam rooms and others for chiropractic services, behavioral health services and an in-house pharmacy.

UHC’s 53,000-square-foot administrative building in Fresno was also completed in the second quarter of 2019. The new development is built to accommodate UHC’s aspirations for growth. With 36,000 additional square feet compared to UHC’s previous administrative office, the organization can increase the capacity of its staff, housing up to 250 employees. The facility features a large entry canopy, divisible conference rooms, open office spaces, covered parking and solar panels.

When UHC moved to its new administrative building in Fresno, it vacated 17,000 square feet in the former administrative building in Parlier. The organization aimed to repurpose this space to a clinic. The Neenan Company began construction in May to remodel the existing building and expand the space to serve more people in the immediate community.
