POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Conveniently located in the heart of Southeastern Missouri, just minutes from where both local residents and those from the surrounding counties live and work, the $173-million, 250-bed, state-of-the-art Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center opened in January 2013, transforming the delivery of hospital care in and around the small community. The new hospital will be home to exceptional care, the latest medical technology and highly skilled professionals ready to serve the region’s healthcare needs in the coming years.
The new facility, which more than doubles the size of the former campus, offers: 
- 250 private rooms with space for family and friends to stay at the patient’s bedside
- 30 medical specialties, including new health services such as neurosurgery
- 120 highly skilled physicians
- Expansion of health services such as emergency department with expanded emergency services and dedicated heart and vascular services
- Enhanced technology and upgraded medical equipment, including advanced medical imaging and hybrid operating rooms with smart technology

The new PBRMC required intense collaboration from the design (Thomas Miller & Partners, LLCP – architect) and construction team (M.J. Harris Construction Services, LLC – general contractor /construction manager.) The project team, with facility owner Health Management Associates, Inc., was able to complete the 425,000-square-foot facility in less than fifteen months.
