Hopedale Medical Complex Announces Groundbreaking Date for Proposed $7-Million Expansion
Hopedale Medical Complex has announced it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a planned $7-million hospital expansion on Thursday, October 25 at 11 a.m. at the HMC in Hopedale. The public is invited, and light refreshments will be served. The event will take place “rain or shine.”
Dr. Alfred Rossi, CEO, reported that HMC’s non-profit Foundation recently closed on a bond issue to finance the project and that construction is scheduled to begin in May of 2013. Demolition and site work will start this fall.
The original 20-bed hospital was built by the late Dr. Lawrence Rossi, Sr. in 1955, with the help of local citizens and volunteers. The 30,000-square-foot expansion and renovation will include a new emergency department, ICU, large private patient rooms, ambulatory surgery, outpatient surgery entrance and lobby, heliport and a remodeled dining area. New technology, equipment and furnishings are also to be added.
