GREENSBORO, Ga. — Brasfield & Gorrie has been selected as the construction manager for St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital’s new replacement facility on Ga. 44 at Carey Station Road.

The new 25-bed replacement facility will provide approximately 80,000 square feet of space and is intended to be one of the finest critical access hospitals in the South. Planned features include an expanded emergency department with increased capacity for additional patients, digital imaging with the region’s only 64-slice CT scanner, full rehabilitation services, multiple surgical suites, all-private patient rooms, a larger chapel, and a full-service cafeteria.

“Being a resident of the community, I am extremely excited to see this project become a reality and to have the opportunity to be personally involved in it,” said Rob Taylor, regional president, Brasfield & Gorrie. “It’s not very often in our business that you have the chance to build a facility that will positively impact your own community, friends, and neighbors. We appreciate St. Mary’s allowing us to be part of their project team and look forward to beginning construction.”

Site work to prepare for construction will begin next month, Brasfield & Gorrie announced. The entire project is expected to cost about $40 million and the hospital is on track for its planned opening by early 2014. Funding for construction and equipment will be provided by St. Mary’s, Catholic Health East, and the generous support of private donors. Designs are being finalized by Earl Architects. Renderings and frequent updates will soon be posted at www.stmarysgoodsam.org.
