CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Anchor Health Properties and The Villages have partnered to develop the Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood, located in Central Florida.
The project, a 285,000-square-foot multispecialty building, is connected to a 150-room hotel and conference center including a spa and Wolfgang Puck restaurant. The project is slated to break ground in early 2018 and will take approximately two years to construct. The center will be built on a site that is approximately 31 acres in The Villages Brownwood Paddock Square Town Center directly fronting Route 44, and will also be accessible by golf cart, allowing ease and accessibility for more than 120,000 existing residents of The Villages and the broader community.
Anchor Health Properties began working with The Villages Health in 2011 when the company helped to develop a primary care model that changed the delivery of service to patients. Six years later, the Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood development is an extension of the successful model of care.
The center represents the combination of customer service and the “retailization” of healthcare by purposefully integrating a hotel, spa and conference center. All connected by a common courtyard, the first level of the center will be an active environment incorporating a retail pharmacy, lab, central registration and education and resource center to aid in the coordination of care for patients as well as other complementary amenities. The surgery center will have a discreet exit out to a connector that leads to the hotel with a dedicated patient concierge, where patients can stay pre or post procedure if they choose.
Attached to the center is the Brownwood Hotel and Spa. The managing operator is AHC + Hospitality. The architect of record for the project is Earl Swensson Associates. DPR Construction will serve as general contractor.
