Construction Begins on Behavioral Health Unit at Gwinnett Medical Center
ATLANTA, Ga. – JE Dunn Construction is adding 10,000 square feet designated as a behavioral health outpatient unit near the emergency department at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The project’s 12 new spaces will include open bays, secure rooms and patient care stations including showers, among other basic amenities. The new area will allow behavioral patients to receive treatment quickly and comfortably.
Like a number of healthcare facilities around the nation, GMC has seen an increase in the number of outpatients who come to the ED struggling with behavioral health concerns. Some of these individuals suffer from depression, addiction and bi-polar issues among other conditions.
The new unit provides an environment that’s calm and accommodating and is located near the existing ED, allowing for quick and safe transportation to the designated area.
The architect for this project is Perkins + Will Architects.
The project is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2017.
