Oishei Children’s Hospital Celebrates Construction Milestone
Physicians, staff and leaders from Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and Kaleida Health gathered on Dec. 7 for brief remarks as the last sequence of steel was erected atop the new Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, New York. The last beams for the new hospital were signed by hundreds of Children’s employees, physician’s, patients, families and members of the construction team prior to the topping-out ceremony.
The historic $270-million project will right-size and consolidate services in a 12-floor, 183-bed, free-standing, modern facility. It will be an integral part of the campus, linking with Buffalo General, the Gates Vascular Institute, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, the new University at Buffalo Medical School and more.
The Oishei Children’s Hospital will replace the current Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, which is located on Bryant Street.
Turner Construction is the construction manager for the project; the architect is Shepley Bulfinch.
