Siouxland Community Health Center to Expand Services
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Siouxland Community Health Center opened its first satellite clinic when the fast-growing center opened its new facility in South Sioux City, Nebraska, on Dec. 9. Siouxland Community Health of Nebraska is located at 3410 Futures Drive, near the I-29 interchange on the west side of Highway 77.
The health center’s expansion to South Sioux City is the result of a federal grant from the Health Resources and Service Administration and is one of the programs under the healthcare law that attempts to address the unmet healthcare needs of the underserved. The SCHC was awarded a grant in the amount of $650,000 that will enable the new South Sioux City clinic to provide enhanced access to comprehensive primary healthcare services in Dakota County.
According to government figures, there are numerous key indicators that the demand for healthcare is significant. Over 42 percent of the population reports incomes below federal poverty level with nearly 17 percent of those uninsured. In addition, several core indicators reveal higher prevalence of chronic disease and lack of preventive services.
Siouxland Community Health of Nebraska provides a full range of by-appointment primary healthcare services along with urgent care walk-ins. Available services include a full range of medical care, vaccinations, school and sports physicals and adult health exams.
