BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — St. Vincent’s Health System held a ribbon cutting and blessing ceremony recently for the expansion of its St. Vincent’s One Nineteen Campus in Birmingham, Alabama.
Attendees joined together to celebrate the expansion, which will open in January and include outpatient surgery, urgent care and additional physician offices. The event featured the official ribbon cutting of the expansion, as well as the blessing of the new facility, Sisters’ Garden, associates and physicians. A reception and tours followed the ceremony.
Opening in January, the outpatient surgery center will offer same-day surgical procedures, which could include general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, podiatry, plastic surgery, pain management, ENT and gynecology. The Surgery Center includes four state-of-the-art operating rooms and two procedure rooms.
St. Vincent’s Urgent Care on the St. Vincent’s One Nineteen campus will open in January. The Urgent Care Center offers: walk-in care for minor injuries and illnesses, including on site X-ray capabilities and minor cuts that may need stitches; convenient weekday and weekend hours with no appointment needed; lower overall cost than an emergency room visit, usually including a lower co-payment; coordination with primary care physician; convenient location with accessible parking and advanced technology, including digital X-ray and electronic medical records system. In addition, as a part of St. Vincent’s, the urgent care offers patients access to the full range of expertise within the health system.
Thanks to the generosity of its donors, the construction of Sisters’ Garden is also underway and will provide an outdoor sacred space for services, personal prayer and quiet reflection for the community. The garden honors the four Daughters of Charity, who founded St. Vincent’s in 1898. To learn more about this project, visit stvhs.com/give.
The expansion has been planned since St. Vincent’s One Nineteen was built almost 10 years ago. In addition to the expansion pieces, St. Vincent’s One Nineteen has more than 50 physicians in 14 medical specialties, a comprehensive outpatient diagnostic imaging center, rehabilitation services, GI lab, wellness services and classes, a spa and fitness center. The facility is part the system’s infrastructure for population health and person-centered care. To learn more about the facility’s “Healthcare Like No Other” services, visit www.onenineteen.com.
