Joint Venture Entered to Develop $24M-Inpatient Hospital in Fort Smith
Ground was recently broken for the development of a new $24-million inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Mercy Hospital Fort Smith, part of the Mercy Health System in St. Louis, Missouri, and Kindred Healthcare, have entered into a joint venture to operate the hospital upon completion. Mercy / Kindred selected The Sanders Trust as the developer to finance, construct and own the 40-bed, 53,000-square-foot hospital, with Earl Swensson Associates serving as architect and McCarthy Construction as general contractor.
This hospital will serve patients who require rehabilitation following a stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury or similar medical problems. Patients will be provided with nursing care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology and related services to post-acute patients for whom the average stay is approximately 13 days.
