Turner Tops Out 1st Tower of $430M Yale-New Haven Hospital Neurosciences Center
Turner Construction Company celebrated the topping out of the McGivney Tower, the first tower of a $430-million, two tower Neurosciences Center at the Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. The second tower, Sherman Tower, is expected to top out in early 2025. The overall project will be the largest of its kind in state’s history.
Designed by Shepley Bulfinch, the 200,000-square-foot McGivney Tower is an overbuild of the McGivney Advanced Ambulatory Surgical Center and will include a radiology and biomedical imaging suite, four patient floors and a mechanical/electrical room. The two adjoining towers will add 204 inpatient beds.
Both towers will focus on innovation in the neurosciences and will provide a unique setting for patients seeking care from movement disorders to neuro-regeneration. There will also be an 8,000-square-foot healing garden on the fourth-floor roof between the two towers.
The 507,000-square-foot project is expected to be completed in late 2026.
