1st Patient Day Set for $900M Essentia Health Replacement Project in Duluth
Essentia Health’s transformative Vision Northland project, the replacement project for St. Mary’s Medical Center located in Duluth, Minnesota, is set to welcome its first patients Sunday, July 30.
The replacement hospital and accompanying clinic, which offer sweeping views of Lake Superior and Duluth’s hillside, reached substantial completion in early March. Since then, teams have been becoming familiar with the building and its technology — all while moving in furniture, hanging artwork and putting the finishing touches on 942,000 square feet of space.
Key features include 342 single-patient rooms; two additional rooms are designed to accommodate more than one patient for sets of twins or other multiple births. 13 birth suites, as well as 16 operating rooms, are all designed to deliver the highest quality of care.
The $900-million Vision Northland project represents the largest private investment in Duluth’s history.
The project team includes McGough and EwingCole.
