Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital Breaks Ground in Saginaw
Mary Free Bed, in a joint venture with Covenant HealthCare, has broken ground on a new, 90,000-square-foot destination rehabilitation facility for patients in the greater Saginaw, Michigan region. The project team includes general contractor Spence Brothers Construction, architecture and engineering firm HED and program management firm Enviah.
Located on the Covenant HealthCare main campus in Saginaw, the new building will include 48 inpatient beds with shelled space for 12 beds for future use, and an outpatient therapy facility.
The $30-million building has been developed with a mutually supportive Lean construction and Evidence-Based Design process.
The building is zoned to accommodate all of the outpatient functions on the first floor and all of the inpatient functions on the two upper floors. The second floor has a direct connection to the existing hospital, via a skywalk, where 80% of the inpatients will be accessing the new facility. Throughout the facility, a Zero-G ceiling track, an anti-gravity mobility system, is incorporated.
