Abrazo Community Health Network will construct a new hospital in Surprise, Arizona. The hospital is expected to open in spring 2020.
Abrazo Surprise Hospital will focus on providing emergency care and less complex medical procedures. It will include a 13-bed emergency department, an operating room and eight inpatient rooms, along with additional services.
The Abrazo Surprise Hospital is a new kind of smaller-scale hospital created with an emphasis on convenience and efficiency, and the second of its type for Abrazo, according to Abrazo Community Health Network CEO Frank Molinaro.
The hospital’s ED will be open around the clock and staffed by board-certified emergency physicians. Abrazo Surprise Hospital will offer minor surgery, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, pharmacy and other outpatient services in the 32,500-square-foot building.
A similar facility, Abrazo Mesa Hospital, is opening this summer in the East Valley. Abrazo Community Health Network operates five acute care hospitals in the greater Phoenix area, along with physician practices and freestanding emergency and urgent care centers.
The project team includes Adolfson & Peterson Construction and E4H Environments for Health Architecture.
