ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A wall-breaking ceremony marked the start of renovations to the U.S. Air Force Hospital on Joint-Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. The U.S. Air Force medical treatment facility provides care to 159,000 Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs beneficiaries and is the primary referral center for Alaska.

Walsh Construction will deliver renovations across 12,000 square feet and two floors of the facility. Renovated spaces will include two operating rooms, surgical support spaces and the sterile processing and distribution, also known as central sterile supply. An MRI suite will also receive a complete renovation to correct departmental flows and enhance the patient experience.

Walsh holds a five-year multiple award task-order contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Little Rock, Arkansas to serve the Air Force Medical Support Agency and their support of the Air Force Medical Service nationwide. Walsh is also responsible for integrated Design-Build outfit & transitioning, MEP, med-gases, medical technology, vertical phasing, temporary SPD trailer, a temporary MRI trailer and MRI equipment.

The renovations are anticipated to be complete in summer 2019.
