VERO BEACH, Fla. – Hammes Company  recently completed an expansion of the outpatient endoscopy facility at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Florida. The enhanced imaging capabilities for visualization of the gastrointestinal tract allow the hospital to provide more technologically advanced endoscopic services to a wider range of outpatient care to cancer patients since the expanded facility opened in late-January.

Tied to growing demand for gastrointestinal services and procedures, the expansion project increases the available procedure throughput capacity by 50 percent.

To meet the community’s need for treatment and diagnostic procedures, including traditional interventional procedures such as endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, two gastrointestinal physicians are being added to the healthcare team. As a result, patients have access to an expanded range of endoscopy services with more expeditious availability in a modern, patient-friendly environment.

In its role as owner’s representative and project manager, Hammes worked closely with Stephen Boruff, AIA Architects + Planners, Inc. on architectural services and Robins & Morton for general contracting. Groundbreaking for the expansion took place in June 2017, followed by six months of planning and design, and the expanded facility opened in early 2018.
