GS&P to Design Expansion for Saint Thomas Health in Middle Tennessee
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gresham, Smith and Partners has been selected by Saint Thomas Health, a member of Ascension Health, to provide architecture, interior design and engineering services for a vertical patient tower and surgery expansion project at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The 52,000-square-foot, three-floor addition to the west patient tower will add 72 inpatient beds to the existing hospital, improving patient flow and providing additional capacity for all patient services. Operationally efficient layouts, such as flexible nurse stations, will create an adaptable space for clinical needs and staff interaction while promoting safety.
Large windows will flood the space with natural light, creating a healing environment that supports positive patient outcomes. The surgery expansion will increase the sterile processing and materials management departments while supporting additional demand for the hospital’s operating rooms.
Turner Construction is serving as general contractor on the project.
