Reed Construction was selected to complete a 14,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center, a 20-acre site development and a 2,000-square-foot addition of the C-section unit for Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois.
Silver Cross Hospital was established in 1895 under the promise to provide quality healthcare with compassion for the citizens of Will County and its surrounding communities. Today, its mission of providing quality healthcare continues to thrive across all three care centers. The addition of their new ambulatory surgery center will further strengthen their dedication to the community.
Reed Construction was selected by Silver Cross Hospital to complete the project, which will include the new construction of an ambulatory surgery center. The surgery center’s interior will feature three operating rooms equipped for surgical procedures, specialized clean and soiled holding rooms, two nurse stations with pre-operative prep and post-recovery areas that house a total of 11 patient holding bays and one examination room. Additionally, Silver Cross’ staff will also benefit from the addition of two separate changing locker rooms and a large lounge and break room area.
Exterior elements will feature a decorative building façade which is designed to be covered in stone and brick with metal panel accents throughout and glass window features. Along with the building construction, the firm will be handling a 20-acre site development which is being planned for future building expansion and other developments down the road. Most notably, the new development will include a retention pond to manage storm water runoff in order to prevent flooding and erosion and also a sanitary lift station which is forcing sanitary waste to a local tie-in point at the main hospital; the complete run is over ½ mile in length.
This addition will help aid to the improvement of water quality for the facility while adding to the overall aesthetics.
Architectural services are being provided by Burell Group.
While the new surgery center is underway, Reed Construction is also constructing an additional 2,000-square-foot C-section unit in Silver Cross’ main hospital. This project will warrant a complete demolition and reconstruction of an existing operating room. The new unit will feature custom stainless steel millwork and finishing elements, along with state-of-the-art mechanical and medical gas systems to accommodate the operating room’s environmental and procedural requirements.
Reed Construction will be collaborating with architect company Anderson Mikos Architects, LTD.
Construction of all projects is slated for completion in August of 2017.
