VA, The Neenan Company Celebrate Opening of Pahrump Medical Clinic
PAHRUMP, Nev. — The Department of Veterans Affairs, along with The Neenan Company, have completed the Pahrump Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The highly anticipated project will help to meet the demand for an updated VA clinic within Nye County, Nevada.
The new 15,000-square-foot facility replaces a smaller VA clinic and, with a modern facility, is ultimately able to better serve the healthcare needs of a rural area with an expanding veteran population.
The new Pahrump VA clinic will include 12 examination and procedure rooms, including two rooms dedicated to women’s health, as well as two specially designed for telehealth. The clinic will provide local veterans with the same level of services as the previous facility, including primary care, mental health, social work and laboratory procedures. But, with the nearest VA medical center located in North Las Vegas, the new space also provides expanded access to direct care from the hospital via more than 20 telehealth programs, reducing wait times and, in many cases, the need for patients to travel.
The Neenan Company served as the architect and general contractor, partnering with government real estate specialist WD Schorsch LLC/Pahrump VA LLC for the government leaseback project. The medical clinic was built to LEED Silver certification standards. The interior building color palette was selected to highlight the Pahrump-area plants, sunsets and rock formations. Local subcontractors were employed to assist with the project’s material testing, earthwork, utilities, asphalt paving, concrete, insulation, glazing and building signage.
