PHOENIX, Ariz. – Mainstreet, a developer of post-acute healthcare properties, has selected Balfour Beatty Construction to build two new transitional care properties located in Tucson and Chandler, Arizona. With a total project value of $24 million, the properties will provide post-acute care, short-stay rehabilitation and therapy for patients in a service-rich environment.
Each of the one-story, 70-bed transitional care facilities will feature 50,000 square feet centered on Mainstreet’s hotel-like, NextGen designs that meet the demands of guests who want to get well and get back to work. By creating properties focused on therapy, wellness, multiple social destinations, restaurant-style dining and spacious private rooms and baths, Mainstreet properties present an upgrade uncommon to an industry with predominately old, underwhelming facilities. Likewise, the newest Mainstreet facilities will offer patients hospitality-oriented care with amenities including a large therapy gym, an outdoor rehabilitation courtyard, a movie theater, game room, spa, an onsite chef and more.
Construction of the Tucson and Chandler facilities started in September with completion scheduled for the fall of 2017.
Balfour Beatty was also awarded a third Mainstreet transitional care project in Surprise, Arizona. With construction underway, this $14.4-million, 68,000-square-foot property will feature 100 beds and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2017.
