MUSKEGON, Mich. – Mercy Health Muskegon, in Michigan, recently broke ground on its new $271- million, nine-story medical center.
Once completed, the 267-bed hospital will house all medical and surgical services including cardiovascular, orthopedics, labor and delivery and trauma. The combined campus services will eliminate confusion for patients and their families, as well as duplication of work for staff members. Additionally, the system’s care model will be transformed through a new 74-bed Universal Care Unit. The Universal Care Unit is a patient-centered care model that provides private rooms for outpatients not requiring a hospital stay but who may need care for a few hours.
Other features of the new medical center include private inpatient rooms, a new emergency department, state-of-the-art surgical and procedural areas, the renovation of the existing Mercy Campus and a host of modern amenities and technologies.
CBRE Healthcare is providing owner’s representative services for the new medical center, including CON support, preconstruction, onsite project management, master budget and schedule development, project delivery team selection assistance, contract negotiation, project cost and schedule management and project delivery team coordination. The project team includes Christman Contractors as construction manager and HGA Architects and Engineers as architect.
The anticipated opening of the new medical center is June 2019.
