KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennova Healthcare has completed the purchase of a 109-acre tract of land located near the intersection of Middlebrook Pike and Old Weisgarber Road in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is envisioned that a 272-bed replacement for Physicians Regional Medical Center will be relocated to this location.

The project has received certificate of need approval from the Health Services Development Agency.

Opened in 1930 as St. Mary’s Medical Center, Physicians Regional is located near the intersection of Broadway and Woodland Avenue in north Knoxville. The new facility would include most services offered today, including a 25-bed skilled nursing facility.
