MIAMI, Fla. — Construction manager Robins & Morton celebrated the topping out of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion on Aug. 26.
Hospital leaders, patients, donors, employees, community members and the facility’s construction and design teams attended the afternoon ceremony hosted at the project site. Prior to the event, the hospital’s employees were invited to sign the final structural beam before it was hoisted into place – a gesture marking the completion of the structure’s exterior. Each signature symbolizes support and contributions to the organization and project.
The six-story pavilion will allow the hospital to relocate the existing cardiac intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric intensive care unit into a new, 200,000-square-foot facility. The pavilion is slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Additional team members included Perkins + Will as project architect and Hammes Company as project manager.
