The federal Department of Veterans Affairs has chosen a team composed of HOK, Walsh Group and Core Companies to work with the community and develop a master plan for the VA’s West Los Angeles, California campus. Strategic planning and development of the campus will enhance healthcare, housing and other services for veterans in the region.
“We will transform the West LA VA campus into a vibrant community where all veterans can receive healthcare, benefits, employment and other supportive services,” says Vincent Kane, senior advisor to the secretary on homelessness. “With the HOK / Walsh / Core team assisting in this effort, we are one step closer to achieving a gold standard of care, support, convenience and customer service at the VA West LA Medical Center.”
The master plan for the 387-acre campus will provide quality care, services and benefits directly to veterans, including permanent supportive housing for chronically homeless, severely disabled, female and aging veterans. The agency’s vision also includes state-of-the-art facilities for primary care, mental health and addiction services.
Over the next few months, the team will solicit feedback, comments and input from various stakeholders, organization and community partners to inform the master plan, which will be finalized and released later this year.
