WASHINGTON, D.C. – RTKL has been selected to design the renovation and expansion for Riverside Walter Reed Hospital located in Gloucester, Virginia. The project involves a new addition housing surgical services and a new 24-bed, inpatient wing.
Building upon RTKL’s long-standing partnership with Riverside Health System, the recent win comes on the heels of three previous commissions: Riverside Doctors Hospital Williamsburg, Riverside Shore Memorial Replacement Hospital and Riverside Tappahannock Hospital.
In 2010, the firm master planned and designed the 40-bed, Riverside Doctors Hospital Williamsburg which was completed in 2013. In the same year, the firm developed a master plan to renovate Riverside Tappahannock Hospital and was recently awarded Phase 1 of the renovation. Additionally in 2014, the 140,300-square-foot Riverside Shore Memorial Replacement Hospital began design and construction is expected to be complete in fall of 2016.
