HOUSTON, Texas — Texas Children’s Health Plan announced the opening of its second The Center for Children and Women location. Located in the Southwest Corporate Center in Houston, Texas, the approximately 65,000-square-foot facility provides comprehensive medical care for Texas Children’s Health Plan members in the Southwest area of Houston.

Through a partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, the patient and family focused medical home includes pediatricians, advanced nurse practitioners, OB/GYNs, certified nurse midwives, optometry, imaging, speech therapy, a laboratory and an onsite pharmacy with dentistry added in the future.

This is the second Texas Children’s Health Plan – The Center for Children and Women location to open within the last year and a half. The first facility opened in the Greenspoint area in August of 2013.

The Center for Children and Women is designed to ensure all patients receive proper care by providing extended hours to accommodate the busy schedules of members. Pediatric care is available 16 hours a day, Monday through Friday, and 10 hours a day on weekends. Obstetric care is available 12 hours a day, Monday through Friday and six hours on Saturdays. Members will also have full support of other services such as behavioral health, social workers, care coordinators, nutritionists and many other services provided by a multidisciplinary team. This healthcare model creates comprehensive care for the whole well-being of the patient.

The general contractor on the project was  McCarthy, Inc. and the architect was  HDR Architecture.
