ST. LOUIS, Mo. — St. Louis Children’s Hospital has selected McGrath & Associates as general contractor and construction manager for the $1.4-million renovation of its pediatric Hematology-Oncology Clinic.

The 6,177-square-foot total renovation of the Hematology-Oncology Clinic will create infusion, isolation and exam rooms, as well as support areas. The project includes demolition, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection work and architectural finishes. The project will be completed by mid-July 2014.

The construction space is adjacent to an active sleep lab and a bone marrow transplant  suite. Because the patients in the BMT suite are immune-compromised and highly vulnerable to infection, McGrath is implementing a comprehensive, multi-faceted infection containment program including HEPA filtration, anterooms, cleaning and wrapping of construction materials and debris, strategic HVAC duct capping and dedicated elevators.

The architect for the project is Lawrence Group. McGrath is partnering with Simms Building Group. Minority Business Enterprise participation on the project is 29 percent and Women Business Enterprise participation is 5 percent.
