CBRE and Martin Health System announced that after more than a decade of planning and visioning, Tradition Medical Center opened its doors to the community on Dec. 18, 2013.

Tradition Medical Center is a 201,184-square-foot, 90-private bed acute care hospital located in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on the Tradition Center for Innovation Campus. The new state-of the-art facility provides an array of services to their community, including emergency services, intensive care, labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care, general and specialized surgery, inpatient oncology, diagnostic imaging (including MRI and CT), clinical research and GI/endo.

Not only does the new facility offer critical medical access to residents of the region, but it will have a huge impact on innovative research studies and future breakthroughs performed by life sciences organizations that are located on the Tradition Center for Innovation Campus.

“For years, residents of west Port St. Lucie and surrounding communities told us there was a significant need for access to medical services in the area,” said Mark E. Robitaille, president and CEO of Martin Health. “This hospital is testament to our organization’s commitment to meeting the health care needs of our community.”

It is anticipated that within its first year the new facility will see 30,000 visits to its emergency department, 6,000 patient admissions and 1,500 births. The facility was designed to expand as needed to accommodate for future growth, allowing a maximum capacity of 300 beds.

CBRE Healthcare, legacy KLMK Group, Inc., provided project advisory solutions to Martin Health System which included launch gap analysis (LGA), strategic master facility planning, master budget and schedule development and control, finalized workload and capacity analysis, integrated process planning, operational and space programming, project launch, project delivery team organization, external team selection, project management and advisory services and facility activation services.

“We enjoyed integrating with the Martin Health System team, supporting their vision to provide high-quality healthcare to the residents of west Port St. Lucie,” stated Steve Higgs, managing director for CBRE Healthcare. “CBRE could not have asked for a better team and community to work with during the duration of this project. The opening was seamless, and we are thrilled to have helped Martin Health System bring their vision to reality.”
