MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Construction has begun on the new Lisbon Avenue Health Center near Washington Park in Milwaukee, Wis. Designed by HGA Architects and Engineers forProgressive Community Health Centers , the clinic will provide family medical services for nearly 18,000 residents within the city’s medically underserved West side.
Based on a master plan by HGA, the 42,600-square-foot, three-story clinic will be nearly five times the size of the existing clinic directly next door. Services will include family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, dental, diagnostic radiology and health education. PCHC also plans to add integrated behavioral health services to its scope of practice in its new space. The existing clinic, which will remain operational during construction, will be demolished for parking once the replacement clinic is complete in December 2014.
Sustainable initiatives include accommodating pedestrians, bikes, cars and public transportation, a secure outdoor garden and energy-efficient mechanical systems.
HGA has worked with PCHC since their founding, designing the original Lisbon Avenue Health Center and developing a system-wide master plan.
