MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin have opened the Moorland Reserve Health Center in New Berlin, Wis. Designed by HGA Architects and Engineers, the medical office building provides high-quality care in cost-effective settings.
The Moorland Reserve Health Center includes primary care, diagnostic services, urgent care, medical oncology, cardiology, surgical specialties, behavioral health, physical/occupational/speech therapy and other clinical services.
HGA streamlined clinical workflows to support Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin’s vision for a patient-centered medical home model, in which a primary care provider serves as the team leader and coordinates care with specialists, nurses, medical assistants, and other professionals. This model focuses on care coordination, disease prevention and early detection of disease. Research shows this model helps improve outcomes and decrease overall health costs. As such, decentralized work pods provide a collaborative workspace for the care team while consultative spaces and offices for nurse navigators are distributed throughout the clinical plan to support patient education.
The Moorland Reserve Health Center embodies the academic community partnership that defines Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin. The new Medical Office Building will help the Froedtert network address capacity concerns at the Froedtert Hospital campus in Wauwatosa, Wis., which is nearing capacity with outpatient visits up nearly 40 percent in the past five years.
