HINESVILLE, Ga. — HKS, Inc. completed architecture, master planning, programming and interior design services at Liberty Regional Medical Center. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the expanded facility was held on Sept. 11.
The project scope encompassed 15,700 square feet of new construction and 15,440 square feet of renovation projects. HKS added a new emergency department on the first floor of the hospital to provide adequate space for the growing needs of this critical access hospital. HKS also completed new space for a C-section suite on the second floor. This addition of this suite resolved a critical issue for the hospital. Before, mothers in the labor and delivery area of the hospital on the second floor had to be transported to surgery on the first floor in the event that an emergency Cesarean section was necessary.
In addition to new construction, HKS provided renovation services to the existing facility including new areas for observation, endoscopy, pulmonary, radiology, lab and registration.
“Based on what we learned from the executive team at Liberty Regional Medical Center, it was time to augment the existing hospital with updates that made sense for this day and age,” said HKS Vice President and Project Manager Bill Alexander, AIA. “Liberty Regional is now better positioned to meet growing patient demand for critical access, obstetrics and other healthcare services.”
