ATLANTA, Ga. — Brasfield & Gorrie celebrated the topping out of WellStar East Cobb Health Park, a $45-million construction project that will enhance and broaden the availability of medical services in Marietta, Ga. Officials noted that the project is ahead of schedule and has benefitted from the use of digital technology, which has contributed to sustainability efforts at the jobsite.
“This milestone event signifies the end of the project’s structural construction phase and acknowledges that the project is ahead of schedule,” said Brasfield & Gorrie Senior Project Manager Michael Stainback. “Additionally, we are pleased to have successfully deployed an innovative digital project delivery system.”
The transfer of information is made possible by a digital plan room situated in the middle of the jobsite, which allows team members to access files of all requests for information, such as project plans, submittals, building information models and other necessary information. According to Stainback, the digital project delivery system has enhanced communication and productivity among the project teams.
Brasfield & Gorrie began construction on the four-story, 200,000-square-foot medical office building in May 2013. Upon completion, the structure will provide new spaces for various surgical, urgent care and rehabilitation services. The health park will also feature medical offices and community education spaces from which comprehensive health education classes and programs will be offered to the public.
Brasfield & Gorrie, the project’s general contractor, is working with CDH Partners Inc. to complete construction by the end of 2014.
