WILMINGTON, Del. — Anchor Health Properties has announced that they have been selected as the development manager of the Heart and Vascular Institute, a 39,000-square-foot facility on the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Edgewood campus in Edgewood, Ky.

The project, estimated to begin construction in November of 2014, will be a part of St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s $30-million investment in their existing cardiovascular program. The Institute will be an addition to St. Elizabeth’s main building and is located on the same property just off of the Thomas More Parkway.

The first phase of the project will include an upgrade of existing space, as well as the addition of a hybrid operating room, cardiac MRI and specialty clinical space to St. Elizabeth’s Edgewood campus. In addition, upgrades will be made to existing spaces, including the building site and landscaping.

“This project is a great example of where Anchor Health Properties excels,” said Paula Crowley, CEO of Anchor Health Properties. “The design needs to feel comfortable and welcoming but also showcase the advanced technology and high quality of care The Institute provides, all while reflecting the established brand of St. Elizabeth.

The Institute will create a Center of Excellence for St. Elizabeth Healthcare and employ a comprehensive and integrated approach to the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease.

“We put a great amount of emphasis on investing in our community by providing comprehensive and compassionate care to our neighbors, and The Institute will further this mission,” said John Dubis, president and CEO, St. Elizabeth Healthcare. “Our goal is to reduce deaths from heart disease and vascular disease in Northern Kentucky by 25 percent over the next 10 years.”

The institute is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2015.
