DENVER, Colo. — Heery International has been selected by the Vail Valley Medical Center to conduct master site and facility planning, extending a successful relationship that dates back to the 1990s.
As the year-round population of Vail and surrounding Eagle County, Colo. has grown, along with a transformation from seasonal resort town to year-round destination, the medical center is expected to keep pace. Some of the strategic initiatives of the master plan involve the relocation of the emergency department and helipad, improvement of patient access to the hospital, the addition of a new medical office building, redevelopment of the “front door,” enhanced work flow patterns and adjacencies, realignment of departmental functions and services, redevelopment of surgical services, expanded critical care services, the establishment of private inpatient rooms and upgraded infrastructure supporting future flexibility and growth of the hospital.
Heery’s work with VVMC dates back to the 1990s when the company designed the Shaw Regional Cancer Center. In the early 2000s, Heery assisted VVMC with the master plan and design of a 15,000-square-foot women’s and children’s center and the 15,000-square-foot Vail Valley Surgical Center, with shared ownership by the Steadman Clinic. In 2008, Heery developed a campus master plan and design of the Eagle Healthcare Center Medical Office Building.
