AUSTIN, Texas — A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lone Star Circle of Care Bastrop County Community Health Center is scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25. When completed in May 2014, the new 25,000-square-foot Federally Qualified Health Center will provide county residents with access to affordable, high-quality healthcare and dental services. The project is funded through a Capital Development grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration and is a collaboration between Lone Star Circle of Care and Seton Healthcare Family.
The team of American Constructors, Inc. and O’Connell Robertson was selected to design and build the clinic. Both firms have extensive experience developing similar healthcare facilities. O’Connell Robertson has completed more than 500 healthcare projects, including many clinics for nonprofit clients. American Constructors has built numerous clinics and other healthcare facilities throughout Central Texas. The two firms have a long history of partnering, including completing three previous design-build projects together.
The facility will provide space for family practice, pediatrics and OB/GYN services along with a community meeting space. The clinical areas were designed to reinforce the close integration of providers, care coordinators, nurses and patients. By locating the providers’ work areas adjacent to nurse stations and embedding care coordinators within the clinical exam areas, efficiency of service will be elevated, and communication and collaboration will occur more readily between doctors and clinical staff, further improving patient outcomes. Each clinical area also incorporates behavioral health services, which further enhances the patient experience and facilitates more comprehensive and holistic treatment.
